satirical look at Washington crossing the Delaware; written at age 15 in Study Hall
Washington's Nocturnal Stand

It was a snowy night with winter's blast,
When Washington said, " Attack, Attack fast";
He loaded his soldiers in a couple of boats,
"Come on, men, we'll get those Redcoats!"

"Sam, you oar and I'll guide,
Guide us through the night and over the tide!"
All night long George stood and directed with a roar,
For he knew if he sat down, he would have had to oar!
