Rhym short poem
The Rose Inside

They arrived late winter the season in lapse
Dormant in the boxes tightly sealed in wraps

Long convoluted robust roots gray in tone
Short beheaded trunks naked bare to the bone

Immersed in tepid water to resurrect
I awakened their souls, a fate so select

Ground hard shell to crack into hollows too deep
Filled with the sand softened soil embedding heap

I made what they longed for an eternal nest
A place to live and to thrive to reach their best

To bathe each morning in the sun rising rays
Mothering trees their shields in withering days

Secret was to show them love to give them care
For the flowers to bloom so unique so rare

As the summer galloped challenge was to weed
To water day and night bimonthly to feed

Shiny deeply green leaves cradled newborn buds
Battle began to fight the aphids and bugs

When I reached for the stems cried out loud to God
Thorns so sharp cut so deep thirsty for my blood

My beauties in the vase, in crimson in mauve
How wild my mind their pot of aromas drove

They came to face me with elegance and pride
To mirror the one silently wept inside
