Poem about how missing someone changes your perspective.
I still woke up this morning
Even though you're gone today
The animals are swarming
Why did Daddy go away?

I washed with soapy warmness
And I pushed it through my hair
But I knew you wouldn't see it
So I didn't really care

I made myself some breakfast
But it tasted really plain
So I added some butter
You'd joke about weight and gain

I cuddled cats in my lap
And a dog's head on my knee
And in their eyes the question
Did he leave because of me?

I think fondly of your laugh
But it makes me want to cry
Feeling sappy, grim, and low
As I wash, and rinse, and dry

I'm struggling through the day
Without you here by my side
You say that I'm your best friend
More than just your blushing bride

I miss your air of confidence
And of course your headstrong ways
Boy I'm glad you're only gone
For another couple days!
