A poem of music and emotion.
He can sing his heart out,
But it hurts worse than surgery.
A knife blade might look cooler
But it sure doesn’t feel better.

He can sing his heart out,
But no one will pick it back up.
He’s lost it forever to a lost love
And she’s long forgotten.

He can sing his heart out,
But the mic won’t pick up the tab.
Two drinks down, five to go.
There’ll be a cab waiting outside.

He can sing his heart out,
But the doctors won’t allow it.
He has to rest up for the tests
And not drink so much now.

He can sing his heart out,
And almost did last night.
I watched him fall apart on stage,
And knew he was thinking of her.

He can sing his heart out,
But she’ll never hear his songs.
He could give up, but it’s too hard
And he would never forgive himself.
