Do you remember the Spring, the new leaves on the trees?
Love was fresh and exciting, like the blossoms on the breeze.
How I long for those days, too short, but so sweet!
Once upon a time, I could sweep you from your feet.
Then came the Summer, as it always follows Spring,
You then told me, “I do,” and accepted my ring.
In that warm sunny time, we eased into our new ways,
We became content just to live, to go about our days.
After Summer came the Fall, could you feel the cool wind too?
We began to live our lives apart, a mournful thing to do.
As the chill grew yet stronger, color changed in many a leaf,
The darkness was coming. Sadness and sorrow beyond all belief.
The Winter is cold, full of ice, snow and death,
I call out your name, seems I will lose my breath.
Does it have to end here? Will this season also pass?
Oh for another Spring! Not to look at you through this glass.
