Waltz Among the Trees

when first we walk amongst the trees
attempt we might to feel the breeze
its cool embrace upon our soul
its fleeting waltz through the unknown

then we find a place to sit
and strain to peer through the mist
the day is clear, the sky so blue
but our soul is lost, our heart untrue

looking down the "beaten path"
we see a life that meets our past
but in the other direction we find
a path thats darker, not as kind
