    I decided to write my column this week on protecting children in lieu of the little girl that was kidnapped and killed last week in Florida. This column is dedicated to all the missing children of the world. My heart goes out to the parents and family of the missing. Our country has initiated the amber alert program to help. This program was established to alert the population of a missing child. To understand how the program works go to:

www.codeamber.org. This site has a list of missing children in the United States. A site that I highly suggest for training your child the proper response to stranger advances is

www.missingkids.com. This site is valuable not only for parents but police agencies and educators. To educate children a site with games and teaching tools is available at

www.netsmartz.org. Parents please refer your children to this site for valuable information on dealing with predators online. This has become an ever increasing problem. If your child is aware of the dangers then they will be able to deal with the situation when it arises. Another site I like in dealing with children and abuse is

www.childabuse.com. I am a firm believer in educating our children. It may one day save their lives!

    I ran across a cute site and thought I would pass it on to my readers. This site is for teachers and educators but I think it would be of help to parents of school age children. Go to www.edupuppy.com.

    There are a few local sites that offer many local interest stories, contest, weather and news. Go to www.wbrz.com or www.wafb.com. These sites are a wealth of local information.     I am constantly bombarded with questions on upcoming projects that I am doing. I wanted to inform my readers that I will be signing a book deal in the next few weeks for a cookbook. I will co-author the cookbook with one of the premier chefs in Baton Rouge. As details come available I will keep you informed.
