A Vampire love story Continued...
Luke smiled at Lexi, “honey let’s give it up for a while” he hoped she would agree. They had already amassed a fair amount of money from the con job. Lexi looked up at him, her teeth showing. She didn’t say anything at first.

“Ok, only for a little while, maybe a century” she added. “I liked that last job. That stupid Lord didn’t know he was getting taken for his money.” Lexi laughed, and moved closer to Luke on the seat.

Luke hugged her and lifted his head to the night sky. He was thinking back over the job they finished just last week. Lexi had infiltrated a vampire coven, it had taken over 50 years to accomplish. She had then killed the Lord’s partner and framed Luke, then he had also made a friendship with the Lord. He had then told the Lord that it was Lexi who had done it and he could get rid of her for a price. So the Lord had paid the price and Luke had gotten rid of Lexi or so the Lord thought. He smiled as he remembered what the Lord had asked for as proof that she was dead. Her front teeth, her vampire teeth. Something any vampire would, literally, fight tooth and nail to keep. Luke was shaken out of his thoughts by Lexi’s hand on his cheek. “What was that Lex?” he asked.

She looked at him sullenly then repeated “Let’s go before the sun rises” she kissed him softly and then got up heading for the car. Once there she seated herself and watched his progress. She then went of into her own thoughts, she liked working, it let her do what she was good at, acting.

Luke got up and with one last look at the sky; he turned and headed to the car. He knew Lexi had changed the subject again but this time he wasn’t giving up. He wanted to just spend time with her. In the last 50 years they hadn’t been able to get together very often. He studied her carefully, to pin her thoughts. He could have easily read them but he didn’t like invading her privacy. Luke entered the car and started it up and drove to the house they had purchased, under different names. Every time they finished a job they had to change their names and appearance.

Sometime around noon, Lexi woke up, from a dream. She looked over at Luke and noticed he still slept peacefully. She got up carefully, not wanting to disturb him. She went into the lounge room, glad Luke had remembered to pull the blinds. She sat on the sofa and pulled her knees to her chest and rested her head on them. Lexi went back into the dream and started sorting through it. The last job had really rattled her. If Luke hadn’t convinced the Lord that he killed better with no one watching, he and Lexi would have been found out. She winced as she felt someone trying to probe her mind. She got up and checked on Luke, but he was still asleep, so it hadn’t been him. She was scared now, “Luke, wake up” Lexi walked over to his side and sat on the edge and touched his shoulder, gently shaking him.

He opened his eyes, still sleepy. “Le...Lexi, what is it? What’s wrong?” He asked suddenly alert when he got hit by her powerful emotions. He hugged her close and stroked her hair.

“Someone was trying to read me. And I had a bad dream. He’s coming. He knows we cheated him.” She started sobbing and leaned into him. “Luke, what are we going to do?” She looked up at him with tearstained eyes.
Hugging her closer, Luke comforted Lexi. “I don’t know Lex, but we will beat him. He won’t find us.” He didn’t need to ask why; she had already sent him jumbled images and words. He got up and laid her down on the bed, “just wait here, and ill go and check outside.” Luke left her and checked around the house. After making sure it was ok, he went into the kitchen. Reaching into the fridge he got out a packet of blood and poured it into a cup and into the microwave to heat it up for her.

Lexi looked up as Luke entered the room, the smell of the blood made her sit up. She smiled, and held out her hand. “Thank you.” She sipped it and leaned back against the head board. “Maybe your right, we should take a break. Get out of the job for a century or two.” She stated.

Happiness spread across his face, “We could just drop out of sight completely. And no one will be able to find us.” He sat beside her and pulled Lexi to him, rubbing her shoulder’s. His mind went about planning, where they would go, what they would need.

Lexi relaxed against him and let him plan. She now felt sleepy, happy also. Now he wouldn’t find them.

“Don’t you bet on it my sweet little traitor” The Lord said. He sat in his hotel room, listening in on Lexi and Luke. He was so angry at them because they had cheated and scammed him. He was going to get them back, make them pay. He had big pans for Lexi. Luke would die fast and then Lexi would suffer the loss of the one she loved.

To be continued….will they get away or die?
