We leave home only to realize some of our dreams may never come to be. |
I came home for the holidays. Man I hadn’t been home in years So I took a walk down Main Street. Taking in all of its Christmas cheer. I had left this town in the 80’s Just tryin' to find my way Always thinking I’d be famous, And come back here one day Oh the People would crowd and clamor Making it hard to get around But I came back home to this place And this is what I found. That I’m a stranger in my own home town No one even gives me a second thought as I walk around I went away to come back famous But I came home and I found That I’m a stranger in my home town I saw somebody that I use to know. Surely she would remember me So I walked right up to her. As she stood in front of the town’s Christmas tree. I said it had been a long, long time Girl I can’t remember when. I talked to her like there was nothing new She turned to me with a sheepish grin And at just that very moment it was then I knew. I was still a stranger in my home town No wonder no one even sees me as I walk around Guess I went away to be famous But I came home and I found That I’m just a stranger in my home town Yes I’m only another stranger in my own home town. |
