No Te Amo. (I don't love you)
She stands behind me. Her stare burns into my back but I don’t turn around. I can’t. She grows impatient and walks around me so that I am forced to finally look at her.

“Why?” She asks me. Her face is a mixture of anger and sorrow. Fresh tears slowly trickle down her face and she rubs them away as she must have rubbed thousands of others.

“She deserved to know.” I say. I didn’t mean for my voice to catch. I didn’t mean to sound so lost. “I couldn’t keep lying to her.”

“She told JT.” She tells me and another tear falls. I’m sorry I hurt you. I’m sorry I hurt anyone. “He broke up with me.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Why did you tell her?” She’s yelling at me now. “We weren’t doing anything wrong!”

“We were cheating on them.” I don’t understand how her mind works sometimes.

“It was just sex, Sean. It didn’t mean anything! I never meant for anyone to get hurt.”

“Did you ever think that maybe it wasn’t just sex for me?” I ask her. Her eyes widen like she’d never even given my feelings a thought. How could she not know? How could she have been with me so many times and not know?

“That’s all it can be.” Her voice holds something I’ve never heard in it before. Determination. And just like that I know it’s over. She’s leaving me. “No te amo. Los siento, Sean.”

It takes me a moment to translate her Spanish, “I don’t love you. I’m sorry.”
