She asked him about his sexual fantasies, unfortunately he disclosed them to her.
The weather was cold and dreary on this January afternoon so she stopped at the local video store to pick up a movie. She felt somewhat disconnected from her husband and hoped that this would allow them a little time together to just sit and be quiet, away from the children and the world. Their lives had been moving in different directions over the last few years and she longed for it to be as it was. The pressures and distractions of daily living had caused a schism to develop between them, it was not a comfortable place to be. She ached for a less complicated time in their lives when it was just her, him and the deep love that they once shared.

As she perused the shelves of the latest offerings her warm brown eyes were attracted to the movie 9 & 1/2 Weeks starring Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger. Although she was a brunette she knew her husband was always attracted to the classic beauty of the blond all American type woman that he had grown up with in his youth. Although not a prude she noted that the movie was rated R.*
Many of her friends had told her about the really hot fantasy love scenes in the movie and it certainly had piqued her curiosity. That was it she thought, if I get him to watch this with me maybe he will get a little turned on and who knows maybe I'll get lucky.

He arrived home at 9:00 PM as was his usual routine. His face tired from the days stresses of managing a large sales force, his attitude not much better. January winters in Pittsburgh had a way of wearing him down. The cold dreary days with a severe shortness of sunlight was the norm and it always made him feel twenty years older, he wore these days like a heavy overcoat.

The last few years of marriage left him lonely and wanting. His career took most of his time and damn near all of his energy. It's not that he didn't love his wife it was just that life had caught up to both of them He had allowed himself to become physically stagnant and out of shape and so had she. The physical attraction that once was so strong had waned like the memories of his youth supplanted with work, children, stress and life in general. Their lives together had blended into the banality that a lot of couples encounter after 15 years of marriage. Passions had always ebbed and flowed as the tides but in the last year he felt as though the tide had gone out never to return. Married and alone, together yet apart were the constant paradoxes of their lives.

As he sat and picked at his lukewarm oven stored dinner she said "I picked up a movie tonight that might interest you" .
"Really, he replied with his customary disinterest, what's it about"?
"Oh you just wait and see, you're going to like it", she said smugly.
"Christ another chick flick" he said to himself as he sighed.
Just to keep the peace between them he replied "OK".
"We can watch it in the bedroom after the kids go to sleep" she replied.

He had little anticipation for the upcoming movie and dreaded the thought that she might want to make love. "What the hell is wrong with me?" he asked himself. "Why do I avoid her so"? These thoughts had crossed his mind before and it came to the forefront again, was it because of the infidelity that he had committed that this wedge of benign neglect had festered into the derisive chasm that was now the definitive measure of his life? The affair had started out as nothing more than flirting with her and it mushroomed into full fledged adultery in a very short time. It was exciting for him, although he knew it was morally wrong to engage in this type of behavior. It's easy for a man who lives and thrives on self centered-ness to deviate in these matters. They have the uncanny ability to justify their discretions and peccadilloes to themselves and the world in which they live. "After all she had put on a lot of weight" he said to himself. " She takes me for granted" was another excuse that had run through his head as he sank farther into the vortex of infidelity. He tried to shake the troublesome thoughts of guilt and remorse from his head. As was his usual, these deeply personal things needed to be buried within rather than dealt with. It's just a man's way of dealing with emotions.

As he climbed the stairs to their bedroom the gloominess of his indiscretion haunted him more with each step becoming heavier, more burdensome as he approached the top landing. As he entered the bedroom she was already under the covers. He slowly undressed and slid under the sheets. "Are you ready to watch the movie"? she asked. "I suppose so" he replied with slight disinterest. "What's the name of this movie and what's it about"? he queried. "9 & 1/2 Weeks and it's really hot" She almost squealed with delight. "There's supposed to be all kinds of kinky sex scenes in this, my girlfriends all talked about it and said it was really hot". "Oh great" he thought. " I knew it, I knew it was going to turn out like this"

She hit the remote and the movie started. It was as she was told by her friends. Kim and Mickey were doing it anywhere, anytime and in any imaginable circumstances. The on screen sex was hot and Kim Basinger was gorgeous. When the movie ended she rolled over and asked him "Do you have any fantasies like those" ? He was reluctant to talk about it hence he open up and she get the idea that he was interested in making love to her. "Not really" he replied. "Oh come on she said everybody has something that they like" she cooed. "Well, I do have one I must admit" he replied. "Really, she asked with anticipation in her voice, tell me about it".

"You know that I have always adored Christie Brinkley right"? he asked, She nodded with acknowledgment. "I have always wanted to get it on with her and my fantasy is that one day the phone rings and it's her". "She informs me that she's sending the limo over to pick me up and I am to be ready in twenty minutes".
The long black limo pulls up to the house and whisks me to the mansion that she shares with Billy Joel. I walk up the front staircase and ring the bell, Christie answers the door wearing nothing but Saran wrap, grabs me by the hand and drags me up the grand staircase to the Piano Man's multi pillared studio.
Christie lies down on Billy's prized piano and yells "Ride me big daddy, ride me big". I immediately dive on the piano on top of her and we start to make wild and passionate love.
As we are really getting into it I hear a voice from behind me yelling "Stop it damn it, stop it". Startled, I turn to see Billy Joel tied to one of the pillars with sash cord from one of the drape sets that covered the windows. "Stop it damn it stop it he yelled you'll ruin the piano".
"You know Charlie, you're really messed up" she said as she rolled over and went to sleep.

*For the uninformed the title refers to the duration of the relationship between self-absorbed Wall Street shark Mickey Rourke and divorced art gallery owner Kim Basinger. Kim is looking for true love, while Mickey is searching for...who knows what. His ideas of lovemaking include blindfolds, ice cubes, chocolate syrup, and rolling around on spent peanut shells, literally doing it anywhere anytime.
When the allotted 9 1/2 weeks are up, Kim has finally come to realize that Rourke has been using her. Duh!
