Lemons, apples and other melons,
Greens and reds in a curious mix.
Bananas and things hung like felons,
The frenzied bazaar needed a desperate fix.
Strewn things sought like cattle after fodder;
It showed man and his curious disorder.
While the world outside spoke of perfection refined,
The bazaar inside screamed of chaos malign.
Haggling clerks and parsimonious traders
Hanging onto their pennies like devoted martyrs.
The cynic laughs at this social being,
For what are we but a contentious gathering.
