Just a little piece of darker truth/advice no one wants to believe.
"Position yourself as a center of influence - the one who knows the movers and shakers. People will respond to that, and you'll soon become what you project." - Bob Burg

Well, that pretty much sums it up. In this life, you may work hard, you may bust your ass for the grade or for that big promotion, the classic American fuckin’ dream.  But in the end, it really is who you know that has the biggest impact on your life, if you are one of the many who choose to exploit your relationships, to use your friends as filthy whores, unless they willingly put out.  That’s a tell-tale sign that they took the same road you did. Help, and help alike. In that case, take what you can and give nothing back.  If you are in with the right people, the “movers and shakers”, the one’s who pull the strings, and sometimes cut them, then your bounds are limitless.
Now, if you want to take it one step higher, take the path to become the right person to know, there’s a little more to it. You should be able to plan occurrences ten steps in advance, have them planned so intricately that the people you deal with are only puppets playing to your hand.  Always create a one way outcome for yourself: beneficial. This one aspect puts everyone, everyone, despite title, income, power, and influence, under you. There will come a time when this will be able to make one man while he breaks another.
