letting your children grow up
Break Free

We raise our kids to prepare them to break free
yet they try and they fail at our level of "free"-make mistakes
and don't listen. You try so hard to help them but they have
broken free of our grip.
What are we thinking? Maybe too much. Do we let them learn on there own
or keep on them? That pushes them apart from us.

You miss when they "needed" your advice, house, your bed and your shoulder
to cry on. It seems over night it is all over-Break Free.

We worry if freedom is good for them and try to let them have it, but still they'll ask us questions, to not want the answers!
Then you get sad over the child that won't listen-so why even call and ask? Just to do the opposite of what is advised. To throw it in your face that they can do it on there own. Are we suppose to just listen and not give our opinions?

This breaking free is hard, tough love is even worse.

All I see when I look at her is the child that looked up to me and had innocent dreams, hopes and aspirations. These things parents remember and they seem
to forget.

So sad it is to think of the choices we do not agree with, but are still in the middle
of. We need to break free it seems. With or without me she has broken free.
