I was sitting next to the river, thinkly only to myself when a rabbit came and sat next to me.
"Hello, Rabbit. You don't look very well; what's bothering you?"
"A wolf has been chasing me through these woods for hours. Please help me. If he does happen to come past here, would you be so kind as to trick him and lead him in the opposite direction?"
"I will, Rabbit."
The rabbit smiled real big at me and ran upriver.
When the rabbit had gone upriver and out the sight of my eye, a wolf came up next to me and looked at me with his deep black eyes.
He asked me if I had seen any rabbits come past here anytime soon. I sad to him:
"Yes, I have. He went upriver."
After he had gone from my sight to claim his prize, I was glad to go back to my thinking. That was a good day for me; I was happy. I had found the punch line to the great jest that is life:
"Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids."
