Poem about the world today, how we all want it to but we don't do anything about it. |
She stared at the still waters in front of her, and smiled, for what she saw, what that lake held, was a time, way before now. It showed a time, where the beginning, and the end, were always the same. Once upon a time, long, long ago, there was happily ever after. The water rippled before her eyes and she saw the time she wished she was in. The time where the prince, married the poor girl, and the evil stepmother and her daughters always died. The time where there was a Prince Charming, for every girl, and every cursed damsel, was awakened by a knight in shining armor, or a handsome prince. She saw Happily Ever After. But that was once upon a time, and long, long ago. Now... The water darkened and changed in front of her, once more and her smile quickly faded away. For that lake no longer held the time of Happily Ever After, but the time of now. It showed her the world, she lived in today. But now, there's no such thing, as Happily Ever After. Now there's only Tomorrow will be a better day. The lake shhowed her today, and every other day. The air dark with pollution, and the streets filled with danger. It showed the world, where teens are dying, before their lives even started, from drugs and drunk driving. Where five-year-olds are being raped, by fifty-year-old men, and where, by age eight, most girls are already whores, because they think it's the best way to deal, with their problems. Where there's a murder for every two breaths you breathe, and a suicide for evey one. And how so many people, have slits across their wrist, because they rather feel real pain, then the hurt clawing at their hearts. That lake showed today, and tomorrow, each one the same, not getting better in any way. That lake revealed, the world she lived in. and how it would Never change. Once upon a time, there used to be, happily ever after. Now all there is , is tomorrow will be a better day. But we all know, That day will never come, because for the day to change, People have to change first. |
