A poem that I wrote for my best girl for Valentine's Day.
"Lady in Waiting"
         To Stephenie

Time changes thought,
New eras must dawn.
Epic clashes all fought,
All heroes are gone.

And the lady is waiting,
She is waiting alone.
The horses are stabled,
The knights have gone home.

Swords have been sheathed.
Shields, they are hung.
Purple heather on heath,
Bards songs have been sung.

And the lady's still waiting,
She still waits alone.
The horses are stabled,
The knights have gone home.

The wheels are now spinning,
There is yarn to be spun.
Taverns, full of sinning,
After the set of the sun.

And the lady is still waiting,
She still waits alone.
The horses are stabled,
The knights have gone home.

Bright armor will tarnish,
In dank hall it remains.
No axes to brandish
In fair woman's name.

And the lady is still waiting,
She is still waiting alone.
The horses are stabled,
The knights have gone home.

Mead will be drunk,
Liquor consumed.
Sealed in a trunk,
Her heart is entombed.

And the lady is still waiting,
She is still waiting alone.
The horses are stabled,
The knights have gone home.

Perhaps the next morn,
Or the one after that,
The sounding of horns
Will announce a fine gent.

And the lady will not wait,
She will not be alone.
The charger is bridled,
Her knight has come home.

With love,
