Poem about Hurricane Katrina or other natural disasters we go through
The eyes of Death looked down from the clouds,
As the Wind swept humidly by,
And the Rain poured down; incessantly chill,
And whispered of those who were to die.

The young, the old, the newborn, the shrew,
And those we know; not when, not why,
Never to see them again, nor the Rain -
Which whispered of those who were to die.

The Purple magestic, the Purple its purpose,
The Purple of lids closed, and sealing the eye;
The Purple of clouds billowing in the wind-
And whispering of those who were to die...

NOTE:  (I've made some edits ... thanks to those who reviewed it so far)

I've been asked about what the color "Purple" signifies in the poem.  In this case, it's my intent that the "Eyes of Death" are the color purple.  The dark intense purple of the storm clouds, the darkness of the storm that still seemed to be overlit by a dark hue of deep purple is comparisoned to the "purple of lids (eyelids) sealing a dead person's eyes.  Purple is the color of bruises, hurt and violence.  In this poem, "Purple" is the personification of "Death" itself. Please do not rate or review based on this note.
