A poem about high school romance.
Backseats after school dances
In dim light of parking lots.
Bruised knees and second chances
High atop the lookout spots.

Take in that sweet, gentle kiss
And it picks apart my nerves.
I swing and you know I miss
As your body throws me curves.

The cool breeze of autumn night
Blows leaves across a dirt floor.
You shiver and hold me tight
As I walk you to your door.

Lean thick head on leather wheel;
Slowly shift into reverse.
Always find I can't conceal
Untamed passion is my curse.

Streetlights twinkle through the mist
While my song plays once again.
I stop and think, "Wasn't this
Easier when we were friends?"

But it was there to lure me
Closer to you from the start:
Your brown eyes alone cure me,
And your soft hands hold my heart.

I know that I can't turn back,
It's love and I can't pretend.
So I drive into the black
And I dream of next weekend.
