A poem about wishing I were born of a different era.

Mom, Dad,
I would switch with you
If I could.
I really would rather have danced,
To the songs of Glenn, and orchestra,
And sing with Billie and the band.
Forget about Sid and Nancy
Oh yeah, punk was fun
But, I want to hear the horns,
And the strings.
Oh I would rather have,
Worn my heels with leather soles
And cover my hands
With black silk gloves
Hang a string of pearls
Around my neck scented with Channel #5.
Drape me in dresses,
Of sequins and satin, put my hair up,
Just so I could.
Dance to the songs of Glenn, and orchestra,
And sing with Billie and the band.
Oh yeah, I still will switch,
If I can
