One of my first serious attempts of writing a spoken poem.
We sit here watching shadow's dance
wondering when life will give us a chance.
I sat there with so many others
some I would have called my brothers;
yet no community would see us so

And no matter how much we fought they'd never let us go
so we sat there in a frozen state
hoping that those unseen few would pass us by
with their cold, harsh, judgmental eyes.
and Yes, that is where I saw him,

lurking just behind the light
seeing me with his tearful eyes
I cannot meet those eyes though
cause I know this man,
for he is me and what I am

He's always there just out of sight
Hidden by a fearful mind
for to have him seen could not be right
But I see him still, on that stage
So why does this grown man cry?

Those silent, shaking tears
Which make me lose myself
and all my years
and When finally I did awake, I sat there
dazed and lost to an uncaring world.

Blinded by those who would hold me tight
and so I sit here, watching the shadow's dance
for I missed up on life's chance
and left behind my rhyme and reason

so I would not stand out from the others
who I still called my brothers
And even though they did not see,
I knew deep down I could not go
for to be away would be to flee

and then the world would never see,
the hate and crime, and prejudice
that still continues to exist!
It came from all the hate and rage
that continues still to our age

and so I stay here with all my brothers
together we'll show the others
how strong and proud that we can be
they'll have no choice but to see
and let us go, let us be free.
