How to find true love. |
He's handsome, and she's beautiful; That's all they see, at first. Another thrill to pass the time, And satisfy their thirst. They thirst for something magical, To fill an empty space. A void that dwells within us all, Inside a lonely place. Yet we can't seem to reach beyond, The walls of our own skin. While frivolous pursuits conceal The prisons we are in. She cannot look out of his eyes, Nor can he see through hers. However bright the magic burns, No miracle occurs. But if they stop and listen close, As their heart beats converge, Perhaps they'd find the thing they seek, And feel their spirits merge. It only takes a moment's time To find that clarity. And open eyes that see, at last, With true sincerity. To free ourselves from our facades, And our rose colored glaze. We have to let our souls be seen Through an unhindered gaze. It is what we've been searching for, Ever since our childhood. To understand, and then, in turn, Ourselves be understood. Yet we drift along, like islands, Immersed in solitude. While individuality Continues to delude. It fortifies our palisades, And keeps us locked inside. Held prisoner by vain pursuits, Cut off by foolish pride. For two will never become one, Until we strive to be, The kind, with whom, someone would want To share eternity. |
