STICKS AND STONES *~

Siblings often tease and knock each other as they please,
And it seems brushed off without a second thought.
In part it may be true, but what encouragement can do.
It can fight the doubt that all the knockings brought.

Sticks and stones break more than mortal bones.
They break the dreams before they ever start.
Sticks and stones do less harm to mortal bones,
Than the damage that it does to the heart.

People always make mistakes til they practice all it takes.
If they're judged at the start at just a glance,
And told you can't your no good,
Words can make you doubt you could,
So you never really give yourself the chance.

But even still today when the children play,
Kids are saying things to knock them down.
Kids answer with a spurt what you said don't even hurt.
And don't let on or even know what's way deep down.

Sticks and stones kids chant in singing tones.
Words can't cause me pain or leave me scarred.
Sticks and stones do more damage to the bones,
But words you say can never hit me hard.

Everybody has a dream be it simple or extreme.
Some may say you're grasping at a straw.
Common sense is good it's true,
but the choice is up to you,
Just believe and you can be the best they saw.

Now I'm listening to my heart I know how to play it smart.
Raw insults won't block my way with a limiting bar.
If you've got to criticize have an answer to my whys,
'cause I'm not stopping till I get it right and I go far.

Sticks and stones may've broken more than bones.
They get in the way of dreams and hit the heart.
But, I'll use mine constructively,
and you all are going to see,
What you can do if you reach for a star.
