I wrote a poem for my dad as a wedding gift to him.
I saw you sitting at your stoop,
watching the sunrise go by.
You loved the golden and red colors,
from the rising sun.
But there was something missing,
What was there?

Your hands were cold,
no one to sit by your side.
Only a used guitar,
And an old bag of popcorn.
What you needed,
A guardian,
A friend to hold,
Someone warm,
To be with you until you grow old.

There’s love in your heart,
So much you can share.
A small flame that needs a spark,
An angel to wipe your tears,
But wait,
You’ve found her.

She’s warm and cozy,
She takes hold of you.
Your strong with her,
You can laugh again,
Someone you can be with,
A friend,
A mother,
A singer,
A lover by your side.

It’s now your wedding day,
Her eyes twinkle of diamonds from a night sky.
Your heart beats loudly in your chest,
You sing songs of joy,
with your Spanish guitar.

In the corner.
There’s a young woman,
Who looks like you.
A mass of dark curls,
And big brown eyes.

She’s smiling at you both,
With tears in her eyes.
Good job Dad,
You’ve found someone.
A strong woman,
Who can build you up,
And can watch the sunrise with you.

It was a surprise at first,
I needed to adjust,
I knew one day you would be with someone.
It happened so quick,
So short in time,
But deep inside,
I knew you were happy,
I knew your wife was happy,
And I was happy.
I love you both,
With all my heart.

May we all watch the colors,
Of golden and red rays,
From sunrise to sunset,
We all grow.
