A short story written in prose for my kids. |
Still tweaking this one, but my kids like it. Hungry little puppy with such an empty tummy, His nose sniffed some food That smelled oh so yummy. He ran to the kitchen, And saw his nose was right. All his favorite people Dined on pizza tonight! He went to the mom And showed a puppy smile, He hoped in his heart that She’d make it all worthwhile. He gave a little bark And opened his mouth wide She turned to look at him And here's how she replied. "No pizza for puppies, No pepperoni or cheese. No pizza for puppies, Not even if they say please!" He was a bit discouraged, But there was no need to fear. Puppies don’t go hungry Whenever Dad is near! He walked up to the dad And he wagged his stubby tail But could tell by Dad’s glare That this attempt would fail. “No pizza for puppies, No pepperoni and cheese. No pizza for puppies, Not even if they say please!” He aimed for his boy next And gave a little yelp. Surely his best buddy Would give a little help. The boy gave him a wink And a quick pat on the head. He took another bite, And this is what he said, “No pizza for puppies. No pepperoni or cheese. No pizza for puppies, Not even if they say please!” He had quite enough of this. He knew that he was able. Puppy jumped on his hind legs And landed on the table! He ate up all the pizza Until there was none left. He was very proud Of this surprise food theft! Yes, pizza for puppies! Yum, pepperoni and cheese! Yes, pizza for puppies! He didn‘t even say please! |
