Excuses

I am too short, too tall,
Too thin, too fat,
Too white, too black,
Too yellow, too red,
Too me.

Excuses ring around my head
From inside and from out.
We all have our excuses.
We all have our doubts.

I am too loud, too soft,
Too strong, too weak,
Too straight, too gay,
Too shy, too bold,
Too me.

These fears, these doubts,
They strangle us.
They make us less than we can be.
Excuses just imprison us.
Belief can set us free.

I am short enough to bend.
I am tall enough to reach.
I am strong enough to learn.
I am bold enough to teach.

There is no coin without two sides.
There is no trait without its worth.
We each have good inside of us,
Our greatness waiting for its birth.
