This is a letter to myself explaining all my goals for 2008.
Dear Me,
I am writing you this letter so you can see your goals for 2008. Use this letter as a reference from time to time during the year. Make sure you do not get discouragd when you look at this list of goals. For it is just that - a list of goals. It is not a list of things that MUST be done, without fail, by the end of 2008. So, read on and try to keep these goals in your mind as the year progresses. At the end of the year, come back and see how much you have accomplished. I think you will be surprised.
1.)  As you know, 2007 was a very eventful year for you. There were so many things that occurred in your life. Some were good, some were bad and one was simply an amazing blessing that God gave you. I'm not going to tell you to forget what 2007 brought you. Instead, I am going to tell you to feel free to remember every now and then those events, but be careful not to start to ponder on the events that you don't understand. As you well know, this can lead to unnecessary anxiety. That is your first goal of 2008. Do not cause yourself unnecessary anxiety. Instead, enjoy every day you are granted. It is a blessing from God, so be sure to use it to the fullest. Also, be sure to thank God for everything that occurs in your life whether it is good or bad. Remember, all things work for the good for those who love the Lord.
2.)  You have a hard time showing the people that matter the most to you how much you really do care for them. Don't be afraid to show them how much they matter. Sometimes it's the little things that do this. Try to have dinner on the table for your husband in the evenings. After all, he works a job that demands so much of him all so you are able to stay home and raise your newborn child. Try to stay on top of the laundry and housework. You know those three things alone mean so much to him. Show him how much you appreciate what he does for you and your son. I know you grew up in a family that didn't show their feelings that often, but be sure to tell your mom, dad and little brother you love them every now and then. God showed you late in 2007 how precious and short life is when he called one of your friends home at the tender age of 23. Make the most of your days and make sure all your loved ones know how much you love them.
3.) Now that the serious goals are over, lets get on to the fun ones. Make more time for yourself. You always used to love to read. You loved books so much, you were always reading. I know the demands of being a wife and a mother are great, but make time to read at least one book a month. Books expand the mind and allow you a short reprieve from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
4.) Ever since you were in college, you have wanted to write a book. What are you waiting for?! Get started on it. Write whatever you feel like writing. Sure, you may not write a book right at first, but at least you will get some of those thoughts out of your head and on paper!! This year I want you to write at least two stories. I don't care what they are about or how long they are...just get to writing! You know you have what it takes to achieve your dream of one day publishing a book of your own.
5.) You took a major step in 2007 to give back some of what your parents and God gave to you. You started to put all those years of practice and hard work to use by giving flute lessons. Your mom was so proud of you. She worked so hard to pay for all those flute lessons so you could become the best flutist you could be and it payed off with the college scholarships your received. Now  your mom is just as proud that you are giving back to others by helping young students become better at the flute. Keep up the good work. Give back more to the community by volunteering to go out and play at your grandmother's nursing home. You know she and all the other residents love to hear you play. Not only will you be giving them enjoyment, but I have a feeling you will enjoy doing it yourself.
6.) The last goal I have is for you to have a little fun! Allow yourself to act silly every now and then. It won't hurt a thing. Don't worry so much about what others will think you look like. Enjoy every moment and don't pass up any opportunities to laugh!
Now, go out and enjoy 2008! I have a feeling it will be a great year!!
