This is a memorial poem. Written several years ago, I have used it for family members. |
"At God's Request" God must have really needed the best So He looked down and said, "I don't want the rest. I want someone who is a friend to all, someone who won't mind when I come to call." He looked and He looked, up there and down here All over for someone to give Him some cheer. He saw our loved one, and at first He said,"No. He's too loved and admired; they won't want him to go. His friends and his family, so close to his heart Would never be able to see him depart. But there's something about him, something special we love And that's why I want to bring Him above." So God called down softly so that our loved one could hear, "Just follow my rainbow and you'll have no fear. No worries, no suffering,no problems or pain.;just eternal happiness, no need to explain." Our loved one looked above when he heard that call. He knew what his leaving would do to us all. But to suffer no longer, he just couldn't wait He said his good-byes and went through the heavenly gate We'll miss you, dear loved one, go on to your rest. Everyone knows that God loved you the best. |
