I am blessed by Easter Sunday.
When I wake up in the morning and my feet hit the floor
I have something to do before I go out the door.
I just close my eyes and then I raise my hands
but before I bombard Heaven with all my demands
I have to sing my praise to the man above
He’s the one who blessed me with so much love
that he sent his son down from way up there
to live like mortals just to show how much he cares.
Well, his boy grew up and he lived by the book.
He got hisself some homies and adopted the look
of the ordinary joe in his old hometown.
If the Pharisees had cars they’d of run him down
or done a drive-by shooting in the dead of night
and you better believe they’d of done that right.
So they sent for Judas and they gave him some silver
and he promised them Jesus he would deliver.
Then the Son said, “Peter, you’re gonna dis me—before the
morning bird crows it’s one, two, three.”
But they lived in an age of the sword and the spear—when they went
to arrest him Peter cut off someone’s ear.
Jesus healed the ear on the man that day.  Then they
put him in chains and they hauled him away.
From Pilate to Herod to Pilate all night.  They condemned
         a good man—it just wasn’t right.
They beat him and mocked him and hung him on a tree
and there he died for you and for me.
But the story didn’t end on the cross that way
for he rose from the dead on Easta Sunday.
Back in Heaven he reigns with his Dad above
and abundantly showers us with his love.
He’s abundantly praised, I’m abundantly blessed
so I go on out that door--you all know the rest.
I live, yes I live, like I got the most
with the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

Amen, Brothas and Sistas.
