A dreary day in the fall folliage

Trees blaze;
red
orange
brown.

Sky, gray. Clouds hover - inching lower,
swirling with misty feelings of love and imminent loss.
Happiness slipping through clenched fists grasping
holding
pleading.

Cracking branches and silent birds;
the smart ones hide from such weather.
Us fools plod unknowingly forward,
push onward
crack jokes.

Wishful eyes watch raindrops tear down flushed cheek.
Soft skin.
Soft skin.
