Do we have the best society in World History?
Look, Democracy is great, but when "we the people" lose our voice, Democracy ceases to exist. Corporatist policies and politics has infiltrated and broken down our government. The lobbyist and special interest groups have only one goal, and that is to profit. Who is looking out for our interests? Is it the next Dynasty that will? Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton, who's next Jeb or Chelsea? I thought our ancestors fled that rule of dynastic monarchs. Am I to believe we can't do any better? Are we that blind? Are we that consumed with material objects that help break down our society? What happened to the family as a vital part of our society? Why is it that everything that was taboo 30 years ago has become the status quo? The sad part is that the things we consider taboo now, will become the next status quo. Do I need to point these things out or can we look a little closer, read between the lines, and figure this out for ourselves. Our society has changed quite a bit in only our short history. In the rich history of the Middle east, one thing has remained the same throughout the years. What has always been taboo has stayed taboo and what has been there norms has continued to be their status quo. I'm not saying one way of life is better than the other, but one has remained the same a lot longer for a longer period of history.
