This is a poem I wrote in 7th grade. I wrote a narrative poem summarizing "The Hobbit." |
In a hole in the ground lived a hobbit named Bilbo. He was a quiet, well to do hobbit and never went on adventures. His story goes like this: One summer day a wizard came to me named Gandalf. He asked me to come on an adventure with him, but I just sat there and began to laugh. I just said no not me, Why don't you come by for tea. Later that day in the afternoon sun, Was a knock at my door where the adventure had begun. A couple of dwarves came in the door, Then came in more and more. This is when I decided to go with them, The great old wizard and thirteen tiny men. Finally we were out in the wild, With the weather hot and mild. Then we came to a group of trolls, Who stuffed us into bags like we were moles. At the crack of dawn they turned into stone, The dwarves and I were left alone. Now we are back to our walk, Hurry, hurry there's no time to talk. Now we have come to this house of elves, Who have invited is in to eat with themselves. We simply could not stay much longer, We could not wait, we could not ponder. Our adventure was more important than food, We had to leave now for we were in the mood. Later that night it began to storm, We had to find a place nice and warm. We found a cave where we went to bed, At least that's what the author said. When I woke up in the cave that night, There was a crack in the wall, which gave me a fright. I saw the ponies walking through the crack, A bunch of goblins were about to attack. They gripped and grabbed, And pinched and nabbed. They brought us to their great goblin, Now we knew we had a problem. We tried to escape, But we were so slow we felt like tape. Gandalf and Thorin were left behind, For they had to sit to rest and unwind. But it was no use the goblins caught them, They put them in jail till who knows when. Off somewhere was me, the tiny little man, All I saw was lots of land. Then I came up to a lake, Which I think personally was a mistake. In the middle of the lake was a creature on an island, Which never steps foot on other land. Out of the water popped the creature, It stood up tall like a preacher. The creature asked me all sorts of riddles, Now there was no time to fiddle. For one riddle if I got it correct would make the creature leave me alone, Thank God, I said, I got it correct, I said in a happy tone. The creature would not let me go, Then I stood there and said no. Finally I escaped the thing, I felt like a bird with one wing. I have found a magic ring, Which could make me do stuff without anyone seeing a thing. I finally found my little friends, They were just around the rocky bend. We were now all together we were walking again, One great wizard and thirteen tiny men. Out in the open of the land, We were being chased by wolves and their clan. Now we are stuck in a tree above, We are something the wolves will love. Then a giant fire was lit, Now the wolves are having a fit. We were finally on our way again, A great old wizard and thirteen tiny men. We’re off to see this great old man, Who will give us food and a water can. We stayed for a while at this place, Then we left at a really fast pace. Now I was surrounded by woods, With tiny men and thirteen hoods. We saw a bright, orange light, In the forest in the night. Every time we went to the fire, It disappeared as fast as a cutting wire. Finally we found a bunch of elves, Who took us away into their cells. I was the only one not found, For I slipped on my magic ring and didn’t make a sound. I found the dwarves and helped them escape, We all got in barrels and floated down the river like a snake. We were now back on the road, And all in a good mode. When we found the dragon’s place, We were walking slowly like we were in space. Later when we were in the dragon’s mountain, Water started to fill it up like a fountain. We got out safely onto the path, Then we all started to laugh. We’ve completed the journey now it’s done, Lets go home and have some fun. All alone in my little house, Snug in bed like a little mouse. |
