Chapter three

Jade was deep in thought about the circle,phone call,and Raven's vague information when her living room phone rang.She was relieved to hear Ashley's familiar voice."What have you gotten yourself into this time?"asked Ashley."Nice to hear from you too,Ashley.To answer your question,I was hoping you could tell me.All I know is that Jaybriel got pissed when he noticed it,"said Jade.Ashley snorted."He'd get pissed off if you broke a nail.I doubt he really knew what it was,it's at least a whole century older than he is.As for the deomn it belonged to,he disappeared soon after the symbol was created.Which is why it seems rushed, even in a copy.Whoever it's tied to now was either around when he created it or that demon found some way to come back,"she said."I don't know if it's male,"said Jade. "Explain," said Ashley.Jade repeated what Raven told her."I wouldn't trust anything that one told you.Don't do anything,I'll be over soon to see if I can get anything from the circle,"said Ashley. "Better hope you get here before Jaybriel or else you might see him dragging me kicking and screaming from the house,"said Jade.Ashley chuckled and said,"You kids behave,".Jade chuckled too and hung up the phone.

Ashley arrived at the same time Jaybriel did.He didn't say anything to Ashley,but he glared at Jade.Ashley went straight into the room with only a nod to Jade."What is she doing here?"hissed Jaybriel. "Helping me," said Jade,turning away.The effect was immediate."We don't need her help," said Jaybriel.Jade shook her head and walked towards the room.Jaybriel grabbed Jade's arm and spun her around. "We don't need her help and we don't need Raven coming around," he said angrily.Jade snorted."You act as if I invited him," she said."But either way he was here and he's gone.i don't complain about your sources,so keep your opinion to yourself." "He's gonna get you killed,"said Jaybriel."Right now he's doing more than you,"said Jade.Jaybriel narrowed his eyes and released Jade."Then call for him next time you need help,"he said.Inwardly regretting her words Jade walked into her room.

The lights in Jade's room were dimmed and Ashley sat in deep meditation.She was surrounded by candles placed to represent the five points of the Wiccan pentagram.Ashley sat near the circle drawn on Jade's carpet.Jade noticed it was glowing a deep red,as if blood ran through it.Fighting her fear Jade got as close as she dared before kneeling down.She began to whisper a prayer meant to be extra protection against the demon circle.Jade was repeating the prayer for a fifth time when Ashley suddenly screamed.A sudden blast of cold air blew through the room.,putting out the candles and destroying Ashley's protective circle.Ashley convulsed,mouth opening and closing as she gasped for air.Jade realized Ashley was being possessed as soon as Ashley's body convulsed and suddenly shot up,straight as a rod.Ashley looked at Jade,but her eyes were clouded over.Her face suddenly took on a hateful expression."How dare you take him from me!" shouted a distorted,but undeniably female voice.Jade opened her mouth to save time,but an invisible hand gripped her neck and pulled her towards the circle.

In a moment of panic Jade reached out for things to hold on to.A bright glow that filled the room made Jade look towards the circle and lose her grip on her desk.She shouted a disable spell,but that only made the circle glow brighter.The possessed Ashley laughed with glee.Jade let out an involuntary whimper,then she remembered the demon wards in her pouch.Managing to grab onto her computer chair long enough to grab one Jade threw it at Ashley.She grazed Ashley forehead,but it didn't do enough damage to break the demon's hold on her.But Ashley's will was beginning to show through.Jade threw another ward and it landed down Ashley's shirt.Ashley cried out as the demon's will and her own battled in her head.Jade turned her attention back to the circle and noticed she was close enough for the demon's aura to be overwhelming.As a last resort Jades threw her entire pouch at the circle and shouted a disable spell at the same time.A huge explsion rocked the house.Sending Jade and Ashley flying in to the wall.Despite the pain Jade moved to the closet and made her way over the fallen door.At the center of the closet on a pedestal was Jade's Book of Shadows.She threw it open and flipped through it.When she found the spell she was looking for Jade spun around.Only to face Ashley's still possessed body.
