A feisty little tyke decribes his first day of school.
I see the tears running down Mom's face;
I see crying all over the place.
Please don't worry mother, please don't fret,
don't sob now, I'm not in trouble yet.

I told you I would be good today,
but never said I'd be good till May.
I'm a big boy now and on my own;
In case I need ya, stick by the phone.

We color, paste, and make quite a mess,
I see Sue with a stain on her dress.
Wood chips in my socks and on the chair,
under the table and in my hair.

Off to lunch we will march down the halls,
gab all the way and touch all the walls.
I spilled my red drink, someone spilled blue,
some on my pants and some on my shoe.

Mom, I'm bringing home a detailed note;
you won't believe what the teacher wrote.
She grumbles, mumbles, and mentions brat.
"Hey," a new word and it rhymes with cat!

Wet pants and a puddle on the floor,
a boy is sick and runs for the door.
The teacher smiles, but I'm not sure why;
she's happy now as she waves goodbye.

A wonderful day I had at school,
but I can't recall a single rule.
Kindergarten kids can sure be wired;
I don't know why the teacher is tired.
