A time comes when things cease to matter.
WHEN IT MATTERED: a sonnet

Welcome my friend, my sweetheart, my lover,
Welcome to my home that is not a home.
It’s true that o’er my head I have cover
But in wilderness verily I roam.

I wish you had come when my heart was young,
When inside it had a burning desire.
There was a time when love songs I had sung,
That lilted like the flames of my love fire.

But now I know my spark was one sided.
Your own embers were meant for another.
To part from me one day you decided.
From that day my life just did not matter.

You have come to a bleeding, ruined heart
Alas, it is too late to make a start.
