Sung to the tune of "Jayne's song" from Firefly; dedicated to my dad. |
Steve, the man they call Steve... His was a job as dirty as they come He fixed pipes and drains for his monthly income A plumber's plumber and a good one was he The fix-your-pipes man, the man they call Steve But also a family he was makin', My bro and me raised with much love, Sometimes a hug, sometimes shakin', But always done with the love His back injury kept him from workin' Along about age 23 But his sons he was there for to love and to care for They grew to fine men as you'll see He loves to swap stories and jokes when he works And has no qualms cold-cockin' any ol' jerk Who threatens his kin, and you best believe He's a man among men, the man they call Steve He's also a good husband, takes care of his wife And tells of his love every day You bet in a minute he'd lay down his life For them not to take her away He's tough but he's fair to his buddies They're all proud to call him friend Just don't try to gyp him Or you'll get a whippin' And that will just be the end He's wise in his ways, and good with his hands He loves woodworkin' and paper with sand Makes beautiful things for any to see He's a wonderful man, the man they call Steve |
