GRANDFATHER TREE Grandfather Tree, Ancestor of all saplings, Magestic and proud, He stood alone, In the primorial forest, His heavy green boughs, Outstreched, Over countless offspring, Below him. Of time, he knew nothing, Of man's struggles and wars, He knew not, Ages past, Time swirled around him, Seasons,Years,Eons, He, guardian, kept his valiant watch, He stood, Tall and proud, Waiting, He saw the sky of a thousand stars, And days of a thousand clouds, Until, The storm came, With one mighty flare It severed his lifeforce, But still, Even in death, He remained, Naked in the night, Standing, Shriveled limbs, outstretched, To protect, His own.
