A poem I wrote about love and for my girlfriend that I am deeply in love with. |
Our love is like the Fall, but with differences both small and great And I cannot comprehend this feeling of happiness that we make We are alike to two leaves falling, both different colours but yet the same Our love is like immortal leaves, unquenched by burning flames But unlike the leaves which fall in Autumn, we shall never touch the ground We shall continue flying, lost in love and never found We are as two birds awaiting winter, storing up our love for the cold times We are two lovers, growing closer when cool winds blow the chimes And when the Winter is come at last, we shall be in each others arms And our love shall only grow more strongly, unlike the crop of farms For love is like unto many earthly things, yet it is beyond all reason There is nothing to which it compares, for it does not pass like a season It never dies, not all away, and it will be etched into our hearts for all time And. personally, I am ever-thankful to know love: so sublime For if Love were a person, I should like to meet her, and talk to her long hours And she should show me the love in everything, as we sat in light rain showers And Love would let me hold her tight and help me to feel complete And Love would draw me in, for kisses, oh so sweet And Love would give me a purpose, a reason to be alive And Love would be my driving force, my motivation to survive And Love would be beautiful, too, more so than any could believe And when Love walked into a room, all other women would grieve And now, I fear, I must reveal a secret left unsaid The woman, Love, is not the name of a real person, but of an idea, instead And the woman that I do Love, she fits the bill for me exactly And I speak not in dreaming, but simply rather factly And this idea of the woman, Love, is none other than my Princess And I cannot wait to, on our special day, hear her say "Yes" And to see her, in all her beauty, in the long white wedding dress.
