My hopes and dreams for my children.
I want so much for you than I ever did for myself as a child.
I hid from the world like I do now all roaring, yet meek and mild.
I want you to soar through the skies on wings of resounding faith
And not be hindered by the ticking of time and the quantity of space.

I need you to understand that there is so much more out there
And that life, no matter how long or great or short, is never fair.
There will be moments of pain, grief, and fortune cards stacked.
Things will be lost or stolen. Words will be said and then taken back.

But there is also good out there in this great, wide, varied world.
A morning sunrise, dew delicately adorning wild pink roses unfurled,
Crisp, colorful autumn leaves crunching beneath your playful feet
Toasting marshmallows ‘round the campfire, smelling the smoky heat.

And there are also great things, simple things that are a reminder
Of the beauty that resides in our hearts with a passionate ardor.
Love’s first kiss so tender and sweet, a stolen moment in time.
A cool breeze on a hot summer evening; just about dinnertime.

Fantastic things . . . I wish for you, I want for you to reach out and grab:
Health, wealth of spirit, true friendships and compassion to nab.
Life long love, hope and freedom, the hum of a pure melody,
Great food, comfort, a higher power and a sense of what it is to be.

There may be luck of all kinds: both good and bad and a lack there of.
There will be love found, gained, lost and even unrequited love.
Believe in the power of miracles, the mystery of life and God.
Believe in redemption, second chances and giving success a nod.

I beg you to take these words to heart and live life to its very end
With strength, faith, courage, hope and resolve that refuses to bend.
Words cannot say how much I love each and every one of you,
My babies now and even when you happen to be a hundred and two.
