A girl realizes one dream isn't everything. By sister.
February came weeping.
Tony Slattery, a British comedian had just died from drugs. I cried worse. I knew one thing then. I had to jump in and take his place. How could I do that? I was only 11. How could I even get to London? My head went in my knees as I sat half crying, half thinking. Was it even possible? I sighed. I couldn't do anything.
Brad got married in Maui. I complained about that. Everything made me crazy. It was coming back.
March was a bit pranky. Michelah and I got into a fight. It ended with her saying she was going to Japan. This was a lie. So I told her I was going to England. She believed me!
So one day I went over her house and showed her parents fake pictures of me which appeared to look like I was in London. I even wrote a report. It was my way of saying, "Ha top that!" She couldn't.
Then I was depressed again. That night my mom called. She said Linda had just quit. It made me sad again.
April, nothing happened. I found out that I was seeing Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood. That made me so excited! Plus I reunited with my friend!
May thundered in ready to go for the 18th. It made Darren mad when I left him notes about it. He hated me back. Seeing Brad in person was like magic but I cried. I wanted to see him after the show. I regreted not volunteering. My mom hired two more employees. Lois and Bernie.
I got to know Lois. She was a 66 year old dingbat. She bored me to death. I hated her. Where was her humor? She needed it bad!!! Her entertainment was going down south to country concerts or singing Spanish. The worse part was she was a blonde and thought her hair was dark! But I goofed around even with traveling salesman, I turned them into a comedy act.
Bernie was a whole different world. We got to know each other. I invented a game. It was for her to ask customers, "where are you from?" I would tell them I was from England. Then they'd believe me. It would go into a huge story. It got a lot of laughs. There was some strange secret I always noticed with her. I really liked her, she was so nice and to a kid she would be cool.
Strangely, I always noticed Bernie saying, "You belong in comedy, you'd make a great comedian. I could just picture you as one!"
Why in the world did she keep saying that? I didn't know. One day we were talking. The subject of scrapbooking came up.
"Oh I love scrapbooking Bernie! I did it once for a project a few years ago!"
"That's great! Hey how about I make you a deal?"
"Yea?"
"How about if your mother lets you, you come over my house tonight. I need help making my scrapbook."
I asked my mom if I could and she told me I could.
That night I arrived. After she knew my mom was long gone, she told me to come in the living room because she had it all set up. There was nothing there. She backed me into a corner. Why was she doing this. I felt a little scared and half of me wanted to know what she was doing.
"Lizzie there's something I need to tell you."
My eyes grew wide. "Yes?" I prepared for the worse. So did my eyes.
"I lied, I never owned a store nor do I have a scrapbook. I called you over here for another concern."
I was dying to know. She continued.
"I didn't want your mom's job in the first place. She's a very nice woman, but that's not who I am. Believe it or not, I heard rumor of you from others. This is why I came, this is why I applied for a job. I'm a New York City talent agent"
There came a weird answer. My eyes lit up with pure magic sparkling in the light, "You can?"
She smiled. "Yes, Lizzie, I am going to let you make it."
That day will be one never forgotten
