I wrote this when my friend's dad came home from war. Support the troops!
If you ever take the time to look at the stars, lie in the grass or climb a tree because you can. If the words you hear on channel 24 news make you want to cry. If you fear every telephone call, in case it is bad news. In addition, you miss your boy; you miss your girl...

Shine. Be a beacon of hope. Let your colors show the world that you are not afraid. Fight, because pulling out will not stop them from coming to our door. Do not cry. Stand tall and hang that ribbon on your door. Do not be afraid anymore.

If you feel small when you are standing by the sea, or you look up at the clouds, how large do they look, how small do they make you feel? The Daily Show makes you laugh, when you just want to cry. For many months your comforts have been foreign sitcoms and chocolate ice cream...

Shine. Be a beacon of hope. Let your colors show the world that you are not afraid. Fight, because pulling out will not stop them from coming to our door. Do not cry. Stand tall and hang that ribbon on your door. Do not be afraid anymore.

So take the time to look out at the stars, lie in the grass, just because you can. Open up the curtains and turn on the radio, because holing yourself up will not protect you from the outside world. So shine.
