Summer

Everything is green,
The colours of Spring have now left us,
The sun is rich and hot.
The heat embraces me with its far-reaching intensity,
Just us a lover penetrating his muse with his stare.
It knocks me, I feel dizzy and faint,
The heat has taken me in and swallowed my soul.
I let it take me, for I love the way it loves me.
I am a jealous lover that always wants more.
Everything is gold and decadent,
The cold stabbing has eluded the air,
And is replaced with a fantasy land
That has suddenly come to life.
The rain that has come and corrupted my sun,
Has left a golden green landscape in its wake.
The shadows are perfect and mark the grass.
The birds flitter and flap, dive and rise,
They have no fear, no hate, no pride,
Just joy in the moment.
I envy their innocent beauty.
They own the best part of the world,
The sky, the heat.
The trees are alive, and have faces,
They are the elders of summer,
The birds are their children,
Who they have frozen time for.
The breeze is a menacing rebel
Who sways the branches and moves the grass.
The sky is a mighty protector
That watches from above,
And only ever interferes to accommodate the storms.
The storms, the givers and takers of everything alive.
This is life,
This is reason,
This is creation.
