I stroll to the river
through trees I glimpse a fitful glitter
I come to the bank, I stare, I shiver
In awe I be, standing small, smiling bigger
Like to a magnet I've become attached strong
to these waters with the name of Swan
I listen birds abound, dart around and sing song
I lounge, I breath, I grin and linger long
Mirrored on the water, sky colours reflected, dual
'tis this image in nature I see as a jewel
A place of energy, I gather strength, I renewal
A lonely soul, invigorated, new
An evening breeze gently grown
sees flora dancing singing a song of its own
I've come here solo but feel not alone
This place be beauty as ever I've known
I stir and rouse from a leaf strewn bed
and to the west I turn my head
The sun hunkers down, the colours blood red
all worldly woes from this sight have fled
I retire ever happy to my nearby flat
and from my balcony I tip my hat
I offer a toast to the grand ol' Swan
and this place of Rivervale where I've come to belong
