The constant reader
He has fallen into the page'
Explorer of the printed past;
Himself a hero and a sage,
His nature such to lead the case.

The plotted foe by phrase engage
Fought well in syntax long ago,
In lines of strife and heritage,
New he recites the final blow.

And here the dame in flowerage
He loves beyond that paper shield;
Confirmed into her matronage,
That neither neither flesh nor page will yield.

A Knight astride a paper horse,
With but a paper sword he gleams;
Along that route of errant type
He is what his stage vision seems.

He lives behind his paper shield.
Himself a hero and a sage.
Now neither flesh nor page will yield
For again he dives into the page.
