Continues the story started in The Affliction.
Galabrad eased himself to his knees and reached for his sack. One hungry wolf lunged and snapped its massive jaws in protest to the mages sudden movement.  Galabrad's mind was screaming for him to do something. But what could he do? Glancing down at his leather sack clutched tightly against his abdomen, Galabrad got an idea. "I'll use my spell book", the young man thought as he lowered his hand into the sack. As he franticly searched its contents he began to despair. His spell book was not in the sack. He silently cursed himself and his worsening condition. The wolves, now smelling the fear that radiated off the mage, began to slowly creep forward growling and snapping as they approached. Galabrad slowly backed up, trying to figure out how he was going to get out of this one.
Galabrad, for the life of him, could not remember any of his spells. As he took another step backward his heel caught a jagged rock sticking up out of the dry woodland earth. He went down in a heap and the wolves attacked.
Galabrad braced himself for the bone crushing force of wolve's jaws. But as he hit the ground he was violently jerked skyward by a thick rope net. An animal snare! "May the great Gods be blessed'!, he exclaimed loudly into the great green canopy of the Mordin forest. Trappers must have set this snare he thought to himself as he struggled to right himself.
When he was finally able to somewhat sit up he became immediately aware of a sharp burning pain in his left shoulder. He tried to move it and then nearly blacked out from the intense pain. It's not broken he thought. Probably dislocated from the force of the snare when it sprung.
"I guess I'll just wait here" he said to himself. "Can't go anywhere now can I"? Someone will be along in the morning to check the trap he said to himself as he lay back, trying to ignore the throbbing pain in his shoulder. "For now I just better rest". "Tomorrow will be better, I hope".
