It's a memory
replaying in front of me
my mom's red lipstick imprinted on my cheek
waving goodbye as she leaves
again
I gaze at my small frame
I was always such a tomboy
with my brown hair cut short.
I look on as my father sighs
and I wipe the lipstick off of my face
It was still there,
burning into my skin.
My green eyes- bright with tears
and Cassi, still waving at nothing...
then I'm running
running away from the memory
of burning lipstick
of her leaving
again
the memory of myself
of having to face the world on my own
of being alone
I'm running away from myself.
