I think I just lost count
Of how many times
I gave up a freedom
To get them out of my mind
Forget about being equal
Or liberty
Cause we're America

They said they wouldn't make you

Yet I never had the freedom
To close the door

Until I rocked the boat
With the freedom of speech

Is freedom just
A word that you hear?
Is a siren's wail
Music to your ears?
And the jail cell locks
To your silent applause
And your liberty's gone

You just lost count
Of how many times
You gave up a freedom
To get them out of your mind
