What happended to me, personally, on that day.
My September 11, 2001

Everyone talks about the towers,
And the fire ball showers,
But I have my own story to tell,
Proof that all over the country it was Hell.

Tuesday, September 11, 2001 started like any other,
I got up, dressed, and fed the baby.
I wrote to my husband in Air Force Basic Training,
And then got in the van for breakfast with my mom.

Tuesday mornings we went bowling after breakfast,
And so when the news came it was 8 o’clock with eight minutes past.
The first thing I did when I heard was cry for my husband and son,
Would their four months together be all that they got done?

Away in Basic Training, unsure of his future,
My husband went day by day waiting for things to lift long enough for a call.
Every day from 9/11 on I was told he’d be sent to fight upon graduation.
I had nightmares of being one of a war widow so soon after our union.

I prayed for those who fought, in service,
For those who were training to, in service,
For those who were forced to, in service,
And for those who didn’t ask to, in service.

All the Americans who died that day did so in service to us,
It was hell for them to go that way, but they are better off given the damage done,
But I wasn’t the only one sitting so far away in wonder,
Knowing that if called I’d have to risk losing the one I love to a battle needing to be won.

I have never forgotten that day,
I think about it all the time.
Can you say the same?
If not, then you don’t truly know what Hell is.

May we always remember those who died on 9/11 every year, every month, every day, every hour.  The families who have lost loved ones and the ones who wondering (and especially those still wondering) what has happen or will happen will never forget and neither should anyone else!
