A letter to a friend

though we may grow old
and time may pass us by
we shall still be friends
in fact until we die
one day we may be lovers
the next pure enemies
but somehow we'll be back
to friends that never cease
please friend take these writings
and lock them in your mind
stow away these feelings
so that one day you may find
that though we have grown old
and time has passed us by
we are still the best of friends
and will be until we die
