MURDERING THE MEMORIES WITH EACH SHOT
****
A TALE FROM THE BARSIDE

She on my mind.
Screwing me blind.
Flash of facial heat
and a grind of the teeth.
Take a shot.
Burn it off.
A lonely tear hits the counter top.
Took a shot.
Burned it off.
She shoved me away.
Could have gone another way.
Anger’s sweat not so sweet.
Shoulders hunched in defeat.
Take a shot.
Burn it off.
A lonely tear hits the counter top.
Took a shot.
Burned it off.
She who threw away memories of thine.
Traveling the endless pit of time.
Icy grip upon the neck.
Breaking the bounds of my stress.
Take a shot.
Burn it off.
A lonely tear hits the counter top.
Took a shot.
Burned it off.
No more memories as the mind fades to black.
Took the shots.
Burned them off.
Asleep in the puddle on the countertop.
Took a shot.
Burned it off.
